Det nyeste medlem af vores flåde vil ære arven fra hendes navnebror – den norske opdagelsesrejsende, videnskabsmand, humanist og Nobel Fredsprisvinder Fridtjof Nansen. Kendt for sine innovationer inden for Arktis-ekspeditioner, førte Nansen den første krydsning af Grønland på langrendsski. Han er måske mest berømt for sit forsøg på at nå den geografiske Nordpol under Fram-ekspeditionen (1893-1896).
Interessant nok blev skibet efter Nansens Fram-ekspedition overdraget til en anden stor opdagelsesrejsende, der hemmeligt planlagde en ekspedition til Sydpolen – Roald Amundsen.

Den imponerende natur vil blive afspejlet i en rig og komfortabel indretningsdesign. Skandinaviske materialer fra naturen, såsom granit, eg, birk og uld, vil blive brugt til at skabe afslappede og stilfulde kahytter og offentlige områder.
